Overview
Join the MMB team as a Civil Engineer 1 working across the AMP8 Asset Management Programme, delivering nature‑based solutions such as wetlands, sustainable urban drainage schemes and water‑sector assets for Anglian Water.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the project design team to produce civil designs for wastewater treatment, water and sewer pipelines, and water treatment/storage projects.
- Apply British Standards, Eurocodes, water‑sector guidance and Anglian Water standards in all civil design decisions.
- Undertake hydraulic design of pipelines (pressure and gravity flow), open channels and closed conduits, and schedule and specify pipes, including ductile iron, steelwork and plastic.
- Read drawings and models and produce clear, concise design sketches to be incorporated into a 3‑D model.
- Provide input to specifications, proposals, work scope and project schedules.
- Develop designs from feasibility studies through to detailed design, supporting Engineering Project Plans.
- Ensure work meets agreed timescales and budgets, notifying the Technical Manager of any deviations.
- Respond to Design Queries and Design Change Requests during site assembly, considering cost, Health & Safety, programme, compliance and risk impacts.
- Prepare site investigation and survey requirements, attend surveys and record findings.
- Prepare design output and procurement documentation in line with Alliance Management System standards.
- Develop efficient designs that achieve project affordability, programme and carbon targets.
- Assist in managing Tier 2 sub‑contractors and conduct root‑cause analysis to balance capital and maintenance needs.
