BatterieIngenieure by UL Solutions in Bilbao area, Spain, seeks an engineer to develop advanced diagnostic algorithms and battery models. You will lead international projects, engage with customers, and contribute to BMS architecture and test validation.

We value a strong technical background, good communication, and hands-on MATLAB/Simulink with Python or C. Hybrid work and international collaboration with Aachen are available.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation/Electronic/Mechanical/Data/Physics or related field; PhD appreciated.
• 3–4 years of experience in Battery Modeling/Simulation, state-detection functions, or BMS AI-based models.
• Fluent English; German knowledge appreciated.
• Strong communication and independent work ethic.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and possibly C.

We are a dynamic high-tech company from Aachen with subsidiary in Bilbao area, Spain. We deal with all electrochemical energy storage systems. The focus here is on Li-ion technologies and lead-acid batteries, but we also deal with SuperCaps, Ni-based technologies or primary cells are part of our work. The company has specialized in three core areas in the battery field. The first area covers all tests on cells, modules, and batteries. In addition to electrical tests, mechanical, thermal and safety tests are also carried out.

The spectrum of test specimens ranges from the smallest cells in so-called coin-cell format to HV batteries with a maximum voltage of 1,000 V. In the second subject area, the focus is on the development of hardware, models, and algorithms for the diagnostics of storage devices. The range of services is completed with the business area of technical consulting.

BatterieIngenieure by UL Solutions is looking in Bilbao area (Spain) for an engineer for developing advanced diagnostic algorithms and models for batteries. We are looking for highly motivated candidate, with strong technical background and good communications skills towards customers and team members.

Responsibilities:

• Lead/support international industrial or research projects from technical and organizational point of view
• Lead/support technical discussions with customers
• Design, develop and validate control algorithms for battery state detection
• Develop, implement, and validate battery models
• Design Battery Management System (BMS) architecture for custom applications
• Design and supervise characterization and validations test procedures
• Evaluate and analyze test data
• Supervise junior engineers and interns

Qualifications:

• Automation and system engineering / electronic engineering / mechanical engineering / data engineering / Informatic engineering / Physics (equivalent bachelor´s or master´s degrees). Phd in related fields is highly appreciated
• 3-4 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: Battery Modeling and Simulation, Design of functionalities for battery state detection and Battery Management System, AI-based models and algorithm
• Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of German is appreciated
• Good communication skills, able to work independently and proactively
• Experience with following programming languages: MATLAB and Simulink. C and Python knowledge is also highly appreciated
