Seqera is looking for a Research Engineer to own the improvement loop for a research engine built atop the Seqera Platform. You will design data and evaluation flywheels and post-train small models to improve generating, ranking and running scientific ideas.

You will work directly with our Founding Scientist and engineers in a fast-moving in-office team in Barcelona, delivering real impact to scientists worldwide.

Formación

• Post-trained open-weight language models with SFT and at least one preference-tuning method.
• Retrained models on changing data and addressed regression/forgetting with replay, data mixing, adapter strategies, eval gating.
• Built evaluation harnesses for a task, defined the metric, and defended results to skeptics.
• Fluent Python with PyTorch, transformers, TRL, PEFT, vLLM or equivalents.
• Open-source contributions or fine-tuned models on Hub.
• Able to build pipelines when needed and work with incomplete tooling and data.
• Willing to work in-office in Barcelona or relocate.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build the evaluation suite that defines what “better” means for an autonomous research agent.
• Build the pipeline that turns real-world run data into a training-ready corpus.
• Post-train small open-weight models to beat baselines at lower cost and latency.
• Run repeated training cycles on evolving data.
• Participate in journal clubs and stay at the frontier of post-training specialized models.
• Own the Next-Gen roadmap with the Founding Scientist on data unlocking capabilities.
