AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Barcelona to join the Drug Development Data Platform (3DP). You will design, build, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines and APIs, collaborating with global teams across the Data & Analytics group.

You will work primarily on AWS with Python, Terraform, and modern data tools, balancing development and stakeholder engagement in a hybrid model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

Formación

• Solid development skills with Python, Git, and versioning.
• Experience with big data, ETL, and cloud tools (AWS-based Python, Terraform, Glue, S3, SQS, ECS).
• Automated testing mindset and DevOps-first approach using GitHub Actions.
• Strong AWS experience and data engineering capabilities.
• SQL experience with PostgreSQL preferred.
• Experience triaging and resolving tickets in a global team.
• Ability to design and document development best practices.
• Good API design experience (REST, documentation).
• Collaborative, customer-focused delivery with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, enhance, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and processing.
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs for system integration.
• Support stakeholders with technical data questions across teams.
• Maintain and optimize the AWS base infrastructure.
• Tune SQL queries and ETL pipelines for performance.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency and automation.
• Investigate data issues, analyze end-to-end pipelines, and collaborate with users to resolve them.
• Stay current with developments in technology and best practices.
• Maintain and refine a front-end application.
