OLX is building a GenAI platform in Spain and seeks a mid-level Backend Engineer to help design, develop, and scale cloud-native services using Python/JVM languages in a microservices environment. The team operates on Kubernetes in AWS, with CI/CD pipelines managed through GitLab.

You will contribute to strategic projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with product teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions and continue advancing OLX’s GenAI capabilities.

Formación

• Significant professional experience in software development with Python (preferred), Java/Kotlin or Golang.
• Experience building and scaling large-scale web applications with an economic mindset.
• Strong experience architecting and building Cloud Native solutions (AWS is a plus).
• Exposure to AI/ML systems or GenAI tools/APIs.

JOIN OLX GENAI PLATFORM ENGINEERING TEAM

Note: This role is based in Spain.

We are looking for a mid-level Backend Engineer for our GenAI Platform team.

As part of the GenAI Platform team, you will help build the core capabilities that enable teams across the company to develop, integrate and scale products powered by Generative AI. We utilize Python to develop scalable, cloud-native applications within a microservices architecture. Our services run on Kubernetes in AWS, with automated build and deployment pipelines managed through GitLab CI/CD.

What we are looking for:

• Significant professional experience in software development with Python (preferred), Java/Kotlin or Golang.
• Experience building and scaling large-scale web applications, with an economic mindset and the ability to design well-bounded, maintainable domain systems.
• Strong experience architecting and building Cloud Native solutions (experience with AWS is a plus!).
• Exposure to and strong interest in AI/ML systems or GenAI tools/APIs.
• Eagerness to understand how things work and embrace a "you build it, you run it, you own it" mindset.
• Focus on high-quality code, debugging, optimization and automation as key priorities.
• A team player who is open to discussions, cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• A problem solver who approaches challenges with both a technical and user-first mindset to build impactful solutions.

What you will be doing:

• Taking part in planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Contributing to complex technical projects, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable software solutions.
• Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. This includes delegating tasks, providing feedback, and facilitating team communication
• Driving innovation by encouraging new ideas, shaping software development, and collaborating closely with product management to create user-centric solutions
• Developing and deploying cloud-native solutions using GitLab CI/CD to AWS, contributing to broader engineering strategy and cross-team collaboration.
• Creating impact outside of your team by helping drive the Engineering strategy and contributing to cross-team collaboration through inter-team working groups or community guilds, among others.
