Cabify in Madrid is hiring Backend Software Engineers (Backend) to design and build AI-enabled distributed systems using Go/Elixir/Ruby, with a strong emphasis on quality, production readiness, and collaboration with Data Science.

The role is fully on-site at our Madrid office (Calle de Pradillo 42). We value adaptability, curiosity about AI, and ownership of code from development to deployment; we offer generous learning resources and a vibrant engineering culture.

Formación

• Solid knowledge of common algorithms & data structures.
• Experience developing medium/large-scale web applications and distributed systems in production.
• Experience with common design and architectural patterns.
• Comfortable with AI coding assistants and agentic workflows; own engineering decisions, validation, quality and production outcomes; bonus for agentic/RAG-based systems.
• Genuine curiosity about how AI is changing software engineering, and interest in experimenting with new tools and workflows.
• Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
• Ability to understand and help make great product and business decisions.
• Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with principal engineers on development planning and architecture design, including where AI-driven components fit into our systems
• Design, build and maintain distributed, clean, testable, data-oriented applications, increasingly incorporating AI/LLM-powered services and features
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools as part of your daily workflow to move faster without compromising code quality
• Improve service reliability, scalability and performance, including systems that integrate with LLM and AI model APIs.
• Own your code all the way to production with a self-service continuous delivery pipeline and production infrastructure
• Dive deep into host-level problem-solving and help improve detection methods
• Play a vital role in nurturing our engineering culture, emphasizing quality through peer reviews, monitoring, on-call best practices, and responsible use of AI tooling
• Mentor junior developers, including how to effectively pair with AI tools
• Collaborate closely with the Data Science team on data

The job

We are looking for Software Engineers (Backend) who are ready to embrace Agentic Development as part of how they build software. At Cabify, we use AI tools throughout the development lifecycle, to explore and understand systems, design solutions, implement and test them, and accelerate delivery, while engineers remain accountable for technical decisions, code quality, reliability, and production outcomes.

We’re language agnostic - your team will primarily work with Go, Elixir or Ruby, but that doesn’t mean your past experience needs to match. We rely on whatever tool fits the problem best, and you’ll have the flexibility to draw on other languages and technologies across the stack when it makes sense. We believe that if you’ve worked in other languages like Java your whole career, you can still pick up Elixir or Go quickly, what matters most is being adaptable, curious, and quick to learn new tools, including AI-native ones.

Our ideal candidate has

• Comfortable with working with AI coding assistants and agentic workflows (e.g. Copilot, Claude Code, MCP-based integrations) as part of your daily process, with a strong ability to own the engineering decisions, validation, quality and production outcomes - bonus points if you’ve worked with agentic or RAG-based systems
• Genuine curiosity about how AI is changing software engineering, and interest in experimenting with new tools and workflows
• Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
• Ability to understand and help make great product and business decisions
• Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, changing environment
