Job summary

Talan Spain is seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong Apache Spark and Scala expertise to join our digital transformation squad. You will design, develop and maintain robust backend solutions across the full development lifecycle in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities include analysing user stories, implementing technical requirements, writing tests, and supporting UAT and production deployment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years delivering Spark/Scala solutions.
• Strong PL/SQL experience.
• Experience with Agile development environments and best practices.
• Collaborates effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer with strong Apache Spark and Scala expertise.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend solutions, working closely with the squad to deliver high-quality solutions throughout the full development lifecycle — from user stories and coding to testing, UAT support and production validation.

This is a great opportunity for a developer who enjoys working in an Agile environment and wants to contribute to business-critical data and backend solutions.

What will you do?

• Analyse and implement user stories and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain backend solutions using Apache Spark and Scala.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from development through to testing and production validation.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the solutions.
• Collaborate with other members of the Agile squad to deliver solutions within agreed timelines.
• Provide support during UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
• Support production validation and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues when required.
• Work according to Agile methodologies, actively participating in the team's ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

Mandatory requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional experience developing with Apache Spark and Scala.
• Solid experience with PL/SQL.
• Experience working with Control-M.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Good understanding of software development best practices, testing and production support.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
