Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Spain is seeking an ATC Software Engineer to configure and design wayside and onboard signaling for national and international projects, ensuring trains move safely and automatically with ERTMS and CBTC. You will act as the technical expert for ATC sub-systems, develop configurations from project requirements, and support testing, verification, and safety teams.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in Rail Signaling, specifically ATC technologies for Mass Transit (CBTC) or Main Line (ERTMS).
• Advanced capabilities in data analysis using Microsoft Excel, including the creation of VBA macros.
• Fluency in English to collaborate effectively across distributed international teams.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the technical expert for ATC sub-system functional behavior, engineering rules, and data preparation tools.
• Engineering the ATC-specific configuration based on precise project requirements and maintaining the software within budget and milestones.
• Supporting testing, verification, and safety teams with software configuration issues and detailed log analysis.
• Driving all phases of the ATC application engineering cycle, from requirements specification to implementation and commissioning.
• Preparing comprehensive technical documentation in alignment with project requirements and applicable regulations.

Your mission in our team As an ATC Software Engineer, you will be the technical expert configuring and designing wayside and onboard signaling equipment for national and international projects. Your work ensures trains move safely and automatically, preventing collisions using the latest failsafe technologies like ERTMS and CBTC.

You’ll make a difference by

• Acting as the technical expert for ATC sub-system functional behavior, engineering rules, and data preparation tools.
• Engineering the ATC-specific configuration based on precise project requirements and maintaining the software within budget and milestones.
• Supporting testing, verification, and safety teams with software configuration issues and detailed log analysis.

Your success is grounded in

• A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in the Rail Signaling business, specifically with ATC technologies for Mass Transit (CBTC) or Main Line (ERTMS).
• Advanced capabilities in data analysis using Microsoft Excel, including the creation of VBA macros.
• Strong knowledge of CENELEC standards and V-model life cycle processes.
• Fluency in English to collaborate effectively across distributed international teams.

You’ll thrive even more if you also bring

Knowledge of SUBSET 026, 039, and 040, or experience with mixed ERTMS L1 and L2 systems.

Experience in trackside ATC data preparation and basic knowledge of interlocking systems.

Programming skills in Python (or similar) and familiarity with configuration management tools like Subversion or PVCS.

Fluency in Spanish to seamlessly interact with local stakeholders.
