Job summary

MDPI Spain in Barcelona is seeking an editorial assistant to support the editorial process for academic journals in your domain of expertise. You will organize peer-review evaluations, coordinate editorial decisions, and ensure manuscripts are formatted to our in-house standards.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Science or related fields, has advanced MS Office skills, fluent in English and Spanish, and can multi-task under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Academic background in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Applied Physics, Computational Science, Mathematical Finance, Statistics, Data Science or Logic.
• PhD in Science.
• Advanced knowledge of MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent English and Spanish skills in written and spoken language.
• Ability to multi-task, attention to detail.
• Experience with scholarly publishing beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the editorial process for academic research journals centered on your domain of expertise.
• Organize peer-review evaluations for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions.
• Be in charge of formatting manuscripts according to our in-house standards.
• Handle e-mail communication between the parties involved in the publication process.
• Collaborate with other members of the editorial and production teams.
• Ensure that scholarly articles are thoroughly edited and published, according to tight deadlines and with a high degree of consistency.
