Job summary

European Space Agency seeks an Archive Scientist for ESA planetary missions, based at ESAC with ESOC links. You will define and supervise archival data products for ExoMars RFM and Comet Interceptor, liaising with science teams and external partners to maximise scientific return.

You will also lead use-case development, coordinate the DAWG, and contribute to archival strategy while pursuing personal research with archived data in the SCI-S group.

Qualifications

• Experience in science data management and archiving systems.
• Experience working with planetary science data in a research setting.
• Experience coordinating the scientific community and managing multiple interfaces at international level within a large multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in science operations, preferably in the context of ESA missions.

Responsibilities

• Define and specify the scientific archive for supported ESA planetary missions and monitor its implementation.
• Lead use-case development and provide archive user requirements to the development team.
• Chair and coordinate a mission-level Data Archive Working Group (DAWG).
• Monitor archive performance and conduct end-user acceptance testing prior to releases.
• Coordinate science data products with instrument teams and external communities as needed.
• Promote archive usage and support the scientific community with data product matters.
