Alira Health is seeking an Applied AI Consultant Engineer to join our management consulting practice at the intersection of strategic project delivery and AI-powered innovation. This hybrid role blends technical building with client-facing consulting, embedding AI agents and multi-source pipelines into delivery workflows.

You will work with senior consulting teams in healthcare and life sciences, deploying LLM-native capabilities and designing robust AI-powered assets.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in applied AI, data engineering, or a consulting-adjacent technical role.
• Experience with prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool use patterns and error handling.

Responsabilidades

• Support the design and execution of strategic consulting projects, providing analytical thinking and AI-powered delivery.
• Translate business problems into AI-driven solutions, collaborating with project leads.
• Communicate technical approaches to non-technical stakeholders and client leadership.
• Contribute to project scoping, workplan structuring and deliverable prep in a fast-paced setting.
• Design and implement Python-based data pipelines and integrate external data sources and APIs.
• Develop automated workflows for data extraction, cleaning, filtering and transformation.
• Integrate LLM APIs for classification, standardization and information extraction.
• Define prompt strategies and validation logic for structured outputs.
• Build reusable components for query generation and multi-source data integration.
• Ensure robustness, logging and maintainability of AI-powered workflows.
• Design and deploy LLM-powered agents to automate recurring tasks like research synthesis and reporting.
• Expose internal tools, data sources and APIs as callable MCP resources for agents.
• Package custom skills and automation workflows for triggering within LLMs.
• Architect multi-agent systems for collaborative, multi-step tasks.

We are looking for an Applied AI Consultant Engineer to join our management consulting practice at the intersection of strategic project delivery and AI-powered innovation

This hybrid role is designed for someone who can operate both as a technical builder and a consulting contributor, supporting client-facing strategic engagements while also leading internal initiatives to deploy AI agents, automation workflows and multi-agent systems that enhance how our team works

You will be embedded within a senior consulting team, working across healthcare and life sciences projects, and will play a key role in shaping how AI transforms our delivery model from the inside out, including deploying LLMs-native capabilities directly into consulting workflows

Consulting & Strategic Projects

• Support the design and execution of strategic consulting projects, contributing sharp analytical thinking and structured problem-solving alongside AI-powered delivery
• Translate complex business problems into AI-driven solutions, working closely with project leads
• Communicate technical approaches and outputs to non-technical stakeholders, including client leadership
• Contribute to project scoping, workplan structuring, and deliverable preparation in a fast-paced, multi-project environment

AI Engineering & Pipeline Development

• Design and implement Python-based data pipelines integrating external data sources and APIs
• Develop automated workflows for data extraction, cleaning, filtering and transformation
• Integrate LLM APIs for classification, standardization and structured information extraction
• Design and refine prompt strategies and implement validation logic for structured outputs
• Build reusable components for query generation and multi-source data integration
• Ensure robustness, logging and maintainability of AI-powered workflows

Agent Deployment & Internal AI Innovation

• Design and deploy LLMs-powered agents to automate recurring consulting tasks such as research synthesis, document drafting, data analysis and reporting
• Build and maintain MCPs servers to expose internal tools, data sources and APIs as callable resources for agents
• Define and package custom skills and automation workflows that can be triggered within LLMs, turning repeatable consulting processes into structured, reusable agent capabilities
• Architect multi-agent systems where specialized agents collaborate on complex, multi-step tasks

Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid with strong preference for in-office presence for collaboration)

Requirements

• Strong Python programming skills, particularly in data processing, API integration, and modular design
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 2–5 years of experience in applied AI, data engineering, or a consulting-adjacent technical role
• Experience with prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool use patterns and error handling
• Solid experience working with REST APIs and structured data (e.g., JSON)
• Working knowledge of Python (or R), SQL, and common data manipulation/visualization libraries
• Practical knowledge of MCP server design and implementation
• Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs in real-world project settings
• Demonstrated experience building agents with tool use, skills, or multi-agent coordination
• Familiarity with MCP ecosystems and third-party MCP integrations
• Background in or exposure to management consulting workflows and deliverable formats
• Experience working with clinical, healthcare, or life sciences datasets
• Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, or knowledge graph systems
• Organized and detail-oriented; respects documentation and traceability requirements
• Strong communication skills, able to present technical work clearly to business audiences
• Team-first mindset; collaborates effectively across functions and geographies
• Strong learning orientation; receptive to feedback and proactive about development
• Ability to work across multiple concurrent projects with a structured, autonomous mindset
