A dynamic ecommerce company located in Spain is seeking an experienced Application Reliability Engineer. You will be responsible for ensuring application performance, reliability, and observability across environments while collaborating closely with development teams. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Ruby on Rails and React, and exceptional skills in CI/CD pipelines and automation. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from Spain.

Formación

  • 3–5+ years in Application Reliability, DevOps, or Software Engineering with a strong reliability focus.
  • Proven experience with Ruby on Rails and React (Next.js, Expo).
  • Deep understanding of web performance, scalability, and observability.

Responsabilidades

  • Design and maintain observability, monitoring, and alerting for all environments.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across Rails and React layers.
  • Collaborate with developers to define and track reliability and performance objectives.

Join us as our new Application Reliability Engineer

We’re looking for a pragmatic, detail-oriented Application Reliability Engineer with strong experience in Ruby on Rails and React (Next.js, Expo) to strengthen our technology team.

In this role, you’ll act as the bridge between our hosting platforms and our development teams, ensuring that our applications remain fast, observable, and resilient across all environments. You’ll combine a developer’s understanding of code with an SRE’s approach to reliability, performance, and automation.

Your Mission
  • Design and maintain observability, monitoring, and alerting for all environments (infrastructure, backend, frontend, performance)
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across Rails and React/Next.js/Expo layers
  • Collaborate with developers to define and track reliability and performance objectives
  • Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and rollback strategies
  • Define and enforce SLAs/SLOs with product and IT leadership
  • Automate infrastructure and operational workflows (scaling, provisioning, backups, failovers)
  • Lead incident management and postmortems, ensuring issues turn into long-term improvements
  • Secure applications using Cloudflare WAF and Vercel edge protections
  • Promote documentation, visibility, and a shared reliability mindset across teams
Collaboration & Ownership
  • Bridge between hosting and development to connect production insights with code-level improvements
  • Work closely with dev squads on observability, deployment reliability, and performance tuning
  • Co‑own reliability and scalability goals with the Head of IT
  • Collaborate with QA on release validation and rollback automation
  • Support Product teams by maintaining stability and performance during new releases
Dependencies / Co‑responsibility
  • Co‑ownership of infrastructure and reliability targets with the Head of IT
  • Strong collaboration with dev squads on observability, deployments, and scalability
  • Works closely with QA on release validation and rollback strategyShared responsibility with PM/PO for planning and prioritization of reliability tasks
  • Supports Product teams by ensuring platform stability during feature rollouts

  • Backend: Ruby on Rails monolith

Your Skills
  • 3–5+ years in Application Reliability, DevOps, or Software Engineering with a strong reliability focus
  • Proven experience with Ruby on Rails and React (Next.js, Expo)
  • Deep understanding of web performance, scalability, and observability
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and release automation
  • Experience with Vercel and Heroku, or similar platforms
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Terraform, etc.)
  • Security‑oriented mindset; hands‑on experience with WAFs or edge protections
  • Excellent analytical and communication skillsFluent in English (French a plus)
  • Ability to work remotely from Spain
