Job summary

Axpo Group in Madrid is seeking an Application Cloud Engineer to join a dynamic, international team. You will connect application teams with infrastructure specialists and build secure, scalable Azure solutions across our private cloud.

You will design, migrate to Azure, and implement IaC with Terraform/Ansible, while driving DevOps practices across DEV/UAT/PROD and mentoring colleagues.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in medium to large IT projects incl. 3+ years Azure.
• Strong software development foundation and lifecycle support.
• Experience configuring Azure with Terraform/Ansible.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AKS and hybrid cloud.
• DevOps mindset, strong communication and analytical approach.
• Experience with Jenkins/Octopus or scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain scalable Azure private cloud infra.
• Assess applications and translate to cloud target architectures.
• Guide developers on architecture, deployment and troubleshooting.
• Plan and execute migrations from on-prem to Azure.
• Deploy and manage DEV/UAT/PROD with IaC (Terraform/Ansible).
• Drive automation and CI/CD, performance analysis, incident response, docs.

Job description

Help shape Axpo's cloud journey in Madrid. As Application Cloud Engineer, you connect application teams and infrastructure specialists, building secure, scalable Azure solutions. We value diversity and welcome your unique perspective throughout the whole application lifecycle.

What you will do:

• Design, configure and maintain scalable, reliable and highly available infrastructure and services across our Azure private cloud
• Assess existing application landscapes and dependencies, and translate them into suitable cloud target architectures
• Guide and support developers and application owners on architecture, configuration, deployment and troubleshooting
• Plan and execute migrations from on-premises Windows Server environments to Azure
• Deploy and manage DEV, UAT and PROD environments using Terraform/Ansible and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Drive automation and CI/CD across the application lifecycle, including performance analysis, incident response and technical documentation

What you bring & who you are:

• 6+ years of experience on medium to large IT projects in software and system engineering, infrastructure, automation or platforms, including 3+ years of hands‑on Azure Cloud expertise
• Strong foundation on software development and full application lifecycle including supporting the business and the users in live production
• Experience configuring Azure services with Terraform and/or Ansible, ideally including Network, Application Gateway, API Management and AKS
• Familiarity with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AKS) and hybrid cloud architecture
• A team player with a DevOps mindset, strong communication skills and an analytical, solution-focused approach
• Ideally, experience with Jenkins, Octopus or scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) and working with nearshore/offshore teams
• Advanced English (C1); good Spanish is an advantage, German is a plus. Azure, Terraform or Kubernetes certifications are a nice bonus
