HappyScribe is seeking an AI Engineer to power the AI layer behind HappyScribe Intelligence. You will build features that combine LLMs, speech models, and retrieval systems to address real user problems, shipping end-to-end AI capabilities that turn conversations into actionable intelligence.

You will work with a small, pragmatic team in Barcelona, applying prompt design, embeddings, and hybrid retrieval to deliver fast, reliable AI features that scale with the product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on AI-powered features.
• Fluency in prompt engineering and working with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience shipping LLM-based features to production with measurable user impact.
• Ability to design and maintain evaluation frameworks to detect regressions and guide improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own AI features end-to-end from discovery to production, including summaries, search, actions, and memory.
• Design and maintain an evaluation framework to catch regressions as models evolve.
• Optimize AI infrastructure for speed, cost, and reliability (routing, caching, chunking, latency budgets).
• Stay current with new models and techniques and assess when migrations are worthwhile.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to ship native-feeling AI features.
