Job summary

SD Worx in Europe is seeking a Data Scientist to contribute across the full AI solution lifecycle—from understanding business problems to building, evaluating and deploying production AI solutions.

You will join the Advanced Analytics & AI team within CDS, applying machine learning, Generative AI and enterprise data integration while collaborating with engineers, architects and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure and value-driven data solutions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS/AI/Data Science or related field.
• 5–7 years in Data Science/AI roles.
• Strong knowledge of ML and AI techniques.
• Strong Python programming and libraries.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data.
• Hands-on Generative AI and LLMs experience.

About the role:

Join our Corporate Data Solutions Tribe, responsible for providing data, analytics and AI capabilities across the SD Worx Group. CDS manages data platforms, data integration, information models and the transformation of Corporate Data into Information & Insights.

The Advanced Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Team within CDS focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence to solve complex business problems and create new capabilities across SD Worx. Our work covers a broad spectrum of AI, including machine learning, Generative AI, intelligent automation, knowledge-based solutions and emerging agentic AI technologies.

As a Data Scientist, you will contribute throughout the full AI solution lifecycle: from understanding the business problem and experimenting with different approaches to designing, evaluating, deploying and continuously improving production AI solutions.

Which tasks can you expect?

• AI Solution Development: Design and develop AI solutions using appropriate approaches such as machine learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models, retrieval-based systems and agentic AI.
• Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning: Apply statistical techniques, machine learning and data analysis to solve complex business problems and identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
• Generative AI: Develop solutions that leverage Large Language Models and other foundation models to work with natural language, documents, enterprise knowledge and business processes.
• AI Solution Design: Translate business problems into effective AI solutions, selecting appropriate models, techniques, data sources and technologies based on the needs of the use case.
• Data & Knowledge: Prepare and structure data and knowledge required by AI systems, ensuring quality, relevance and appropriate use.
• AI Evaluation & Testing: Define meaningful evaluation approaches and systematically assess the quality, reliability and effectiveness of AI solutions before and after deployment.
• Solution Deployment: Bring AI solutions from experimentation into production, ensuring scalability, maintainability, security and operational reliability.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor AI solutions and use operational data, user feedback and evaluation results to continuously improve their performance.
• Research & Innovation: Stay current with developments in machine learning, Generative AI and agentic AI, and assess how emerging technologies can create value for SD Worx.
• Collaboration: Work with business experts, engineers, architects, product teams and other stakeholders to develop AI solutions that address real business needs.
• Responsible AI: Ensure AI solutions are developed and used responsibly, with appropriate consideration for security, privacy, transparency, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to reusable AI practices, patterns and capabilities and share knowledge with colleagues across the organization.

What do you have to offer?

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistical analysis and modern AI techniques.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and experience with relevant data science and AI libraries.
• Experience developing AI solutions using different types of structured and unstructured data.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models, or demonstrable experience working with comparable modern AI technologies.
• Understanding of techniques for connecting AI systems with enterprise data and knowledge.
• Experience designing appropriate evaluation and testing approaches for AI solutions.
• Ability to move beyond experimentation and contribute to production‑ready AI solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, and modern software development practices including Git and CI/CD.
• Good understanding of APIs and integration of AI capabilities into applications and business processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguous or evolving business problems.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts and results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• You are curious, eager to learn and comfortable working in a field where technologies and best practices evolve rapidly.
• You have a pragmatic and result‑driven mindset, focusing not only on technical performance but also on business value and usability of the solutions you develop.

Experience considered as a plus

• Experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models, retrieval-based AI or agentic AI systems.
• Experience developing AI solutions that interact with enterprise applications, data sources or APIs.
• Experience with cloud‑native technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, monitoring and operationalisation of AI solutions.
• Experience with AI evaluation, experimentation and automated testing approaches.
• Experience developing AI products used in real business processes.
• Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in HR, payroll or another complex and knowledge‑intensive business domain.
