Job description

Opportunity to take ownership of accounting, reporting and internal control activities within an international renewable energy group, contributing to financial reporting quality and the continuous improvement of Finance processes.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with practical experience in internal controls over financial reporting, ideally acquired in an international audit firm or multinational business.

The position will coordinate accounting and reporting activities for OW’s Holding entities in Spain, with particular emphasis on the accuracy of financial information under IFRS and Spanish GAAP and the effectiveness of related internal controls. The role will also contribute to accounting and internal control matters across other geographies and at OW Group level.

The candidate is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, take ownership of assigned processes, challenge financial information and coordinate stakeholders, seeking management guidance on complex or non-routine matters.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accounting and financial reporting
  • Coordinate month-end closing activities for OW holding entities, including accruals, provisions, account reconciliations, intercompany balances and Group reporting.
  • Review bookkeeping and supporting documentation, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Prepare financial information under Spanish GAAP and IFRS, including relevant GAAP-to-IFRS adjustments.
  • Perform standalone financial analysis, investigate significant movements and provide clear explanations of financial results.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual standalone financial statements.
  • Translate accounting conclusions into appropriate accounting entries, disclosures and control requirements.
  • Support ad hoc accounting and reporting matters and Finance initiatives, providing technical analysis and guidance as required.
Internal controls over financial reporting
  • Independently assess the existing internal control framework, including risk and control matrices, and propose improvements to address financial reporting risks and process inefficiencies, in alignment with priorities set by the Accounting and Reporting Senior Manager.
  • Coordinate with Finance teams across geographies to ensure consistent and timely execution of controls, appropriate supporting evidence and alignment with Group requirements.
  • Monitor control execution and identified deficiencies, agree corrective actions with local teams and follow up on their resolution.
  • Improve Group-level reporting and visibility over control execution, outstanding issues and remediation progress, providing clear and actionable information to management.
  • Coordinate and implement agreed improvements with relevant stakeholders, updating control matrices and documentation and escalating significant design decisions for management approval.
Audit and process improvement
  • Act as a key point of contact for assigned internal and statutory external audit activities, coordinating information requests and outstanding matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, reporting and control processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury and Procurement, as well as local Finance teams across geographies, in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues within the assigned scope.
