Job summary

Vista Investments in Madrid is seeking an experienced in-house accountant to own the numbers from the first journal entry to the final financial statements.

This role is hands-on and involves learning from external advisors and taking over full accounting from January 2027. You will manage month-end and year-end closes across entities, prepare journals, reconciliations, and financial statements while coordinating with auditors and tax advisors.

Qualifications

• Min 4 years in-house accounting with month-end and year-end close.
• Hands-on with journal entries, provisions, accruals and reconciliations.
• Experience with General Ledger and financial statements for multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC).
• Proficient Excel and ERP systems.
• Professional working English and native or fluent Spanish.
• Available to join by mid-November 2026.

About Vista Investments

Vista Investments is a privately held real estate investment and hospitality company with assets in the United States and Europe. Our Madrid team works closely with our corporate office in California.

The Role

We are looking for an accountant who does the accounting: someone who prepares the entries, runs the close and owns the numbers from the first journal entry to the final financial statements.

This is a hands-on role, and we want to be clear about what it involves. Our accounting is currently handled by external advisors who will step back at the end of 2026. You will work side by side with them during the coming months to learn exactly how our accounting is done (our entities, processes, closing calendar and reporting), and from January 2027 you will run it yourself.

It's a role for someone who wants to do the accounting, not delegate it. For the right person, it is also a real opportunity to grow with the company as our in-house Finance function develops.

What You'll Do

• Learn our accounting from the current external advisors during the handover period, and take over the full accounting function from January 2027.
• Run the monthly, quarterly and year-end close across multiple entities.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions and closing adjustments.
• Prepare and own balance sheet reconciliations, and investigate any balance that doesn't make sense.
• Manage intercompany accounting and support group consolidation.
• Prepare financial statements and monthly reporting packages for our Finance team in California.
• Work with external auditors and tax advisors on statutory accounts and audits.
• Improve closing processes, controls and documentation.

What We're Looking For

• At least 4 years in an in-house accounting role where you personally ran the month-end and year-end close. Audit experience alone is not enough.
• Strong hands-on experience with journal entries, provisions, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience keeping the General Ledger and preparing financial statements for one or more legal entities.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC).
• Good Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Professional working English and native or fluent Spanish.
• Availability to join by mid-November 2026.

Nice to Have

• Consolidation and intercompany experience in multi-entity groups.
• Exposure to U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Real estate or hospitality experience.
