Universidade de Vigo is seeking an embedded software engineer to design and develop firmware for ARM-based systems. You will participate in hardware bring-up, integrate bootloaders and the Linux kernel, and develop drivers for peripherals.

The role requires C programming for embedded platforms, experience with RTOS, and collaboration with hardware teams to validate boards and optimize software performance.

Formación

• Academic background in engineering with relevant courses.

Offer Description

Design and develop firmware and low-level software for embedded systems based on microcontrollers and ARM processors, actively participating in code implementation and the evolution of the software architecture.

Participate in the bring-up of new hardware platforms, integrating firmware, bootloaders, the Linux kernel, and device drivers.

Develop drivers, services, and libraries in C for communication with peripherals and industrial buses (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, etc.).

Debug low-level issues using instrumentation and analysis tools, collaborating with hardware teams during board validation.

Optimize software performance, power consumption, and robustness, documenting the solutions developed.

Participate in the evolution of the software architecture and the incorporation of new technologies for embedded systems.

If necessary, candidates must meet the requirements to apply for their HPS.

Item 01: Academic background and other courses. Verifiable professional experience (at least 3 years). Knowledge of languages (Spanish, English, Galician) with practical application in a professional setting. (punctuation: 30)

Item 02: At least 3 years of proven experience in C-based firmware development for embedded systems, programming ARM microcontrollers, and integrating peripherals via SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, or equivalent interfaces. (punctuation: 25)

Item 03: Experience with embedded Linux, bootloaders, the kernel, drivers, RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or similar), Git, and embedded system debugging. Experience with the bring-up and validation of new hardware platforms is a plus. (punctuation: 20)

Item 04: Knowledge of C++, Python, or Go; Bluetooth, NFC, UWB, or other embedded communications technologies. The ability to collaborate on hardware design, interpret schematics, and maintain technical documentation in English is a plus. (punctuation: 10)

Item 05: Personal interview. The interview will be conducted only with those candidates whose total merit score reaches a minimum of 50 points. (punctuation: 15)
