Job summary

Vattenfall is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership for Drivetrain and Yaw systems across its wind portfolio. You will influence maintenance strategies, risk management, and technology adoption while collaborating with teams across Europe.

The role combines fleet asset management with hands-on problem-solving and requires strong communication with engineers, operations, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience with wind turbine mechanical components and drivetrains
• Ability to conduct investigator work and RCA
• Ability to translate complex tech topics to diverse stakeholders
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external partners
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize maintenance strategies for mechanical components
• Lead technical investigations and RCA across wind assets
• Assess risks and support data-driven fleet decisions
• Define inspection, repair and monitoring requirements
• Support supplier selection, contracts, and performance evaluations
• Maintain budgets, cost models, and OPEX assumptions
• Evaluate and implement new technologies for inspections and repairs
• Review proposals for components and refurbishments
• Share lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across the organization
• Travel to wind farms and supplier facilities as needed
