Job summary

Edison Smart seeks a BMS Design Lead to oversee the BMS scope on a 14‑month Denmark/Cork project. You will bridge design management and automation teams, translating client needs into robust engineering solutions and guiding technical decisions with senior stakeholders.

Your role requires hands-on design leadership across design through handover, with a focus on HVAC/BMS interfaces and regulatory standards. Denmark and Cork travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Strong BMS design experience in pharma or regulated facilities.
• Hands-on experience producing detailed engineering designs and documentation.
• Experience across the full lifecycle from design through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls and interfaces between BMS and facility monitoring systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design activities with client and EPC teams.
• Confidence leading technical discussions with senior stakeholders.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Availability to work regularly in Denmark and Cork.

Responsibilities

• Lead the BMS design scope and coordinate interfaces with the wider facility design and automation teams.
• Develop and review detailed design documentation, including P&IDs, technical reports and supporting specifications.
• Translate client requirements into practical design solutions.
• Review EPC design deliverables, resolve technical queries and identify gaps or interface issues.
• Coordinate with mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping and automation disciplines.
• Address challenges of integrating redesigned systems with retained brownfield infrastructure.
• Communicate design progress, technical risks and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

About the Role

BMS DESIGN LEAD

14-month contract | Denmark / Cork, Ireland

Location: Primarily Denmark, with approximately two weeks per month in Cork

Start: Ideally within four weeks

You will sit between the design management and automation teams, acting as the main point of contact for the EPC partner on BMS-related matters. This requires a hands‑on design lead who understands how to develop detailed engineering solutions and can confidently discuss technical decisions with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the BMS design scope and coordinate interfaces with the wider facility design and automation teams.
• Develop and review detailed design documentation, including relevant P&IDs, technical reports and supporting specifications.
• Translate client requirements into practical design solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Siemens experience, particularly S7, is relevant.
• Brownfield pharmaceutical redevelopment experience would also be valuable.
• Candidates should be able to demonstrate personal ownership of design deliverables alongside any installation, commissioning or project management experience.
