Job summary

SDU Robotics at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for postdoc or research assistant positions in Odense. The role focuses on sensing, modeling and control of soft/continuum robotics for surgical applications, with a one-year appointment to be agreed.

The successful candidate will contribute to integration of sensing technologies, AI-based control, 3D reconstruction, visual servoing, and experimental validation on robotic platforms,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD required (postdoc or research assistant).
• Educational background in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or related area.
• Proven knowledge in embedded systems, ROS, medical imaging analysis, robot control, AI, and mechanical prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Integrate sensing technologies (camera, tracking system, FBG) with continuum robotics and develop sensing/estimation algorithms.
• 3D environment reconstruction from vision data.
• Develop and apply AI-based control methods for continuum robots.
• Perform visual servoing and validate control algorithms on robotic platforms.
• Publish results in major robotics journals or conferences.
