Job summary

Copenhagen Energy Trading is seeking a Student Software Engineer to join our Tech team, gaining hands-on experience in software development and data engineering while supporting trading systems across Europe and North America. Based at our Copenhagen office in Carlsberg Byen for a minimum of 15 hours per week, you’ll learn, take ownership, and could progress to a full-time role after graduation.

Join Copenhagen Energy Trading as our next Student Software Engineer

Are you passionate about software development, data engineering, and solving complex real-world problems? Join us at Copenhagen Energy Trading, an international energy trading company, and help build the systems, ML and data infrastructure that support our trading activities across European and North American power markets.

The Opportunity

As a Student Software Engineer, you'll join our Tech team, working closely with experienced software engineers, traders, and quants to solve real-world challenges.

From day one, you'll gain hands-on experience with software development and data engineering, while helping build and improve the infrastructure powering our trading systems across European and North American markets, including battery energy storage systems.

It'll be challenging, but also fun and rewarding. You'll develop a unique understanding of how technology supports modern energy trading, and you'll be encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and grow both technically and professionally.

Who are you

• Education: Currently studying a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Technical skills: You enjoy software development, have strong programming skills in Python and have familiarity with Git and SQL Experience with other programming languages, such as C++, or .NET is considered an advantage.
• Proactive mindset: Curious and eager to learn. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and aren’t afraid to take initiative when exploring new solutions.
• Interests: Motivated by working with data, analytics, and technology, and interested in learning how software supports modern energy trading and power markets.
• Bonus: Experience running software in production or building personal projects. We would really like to see any personal project you’ve built.
• Language proficiency: Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Location: You will be based at our office in Carlsberg Byen, Copenhagen, for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
