Unity Technologies’ Ads Infrastructure team builds and operates the core distributed systems behind Unity Ads, a global real‑time advertising platform. This Staff Engineer role leads the design and operation of a hybrid Kubernetes platform across cloud and on‑prem environments, enabling scalable workloads, AI batches, and model serving.

You will own architecture across GCP, AWS and on‑prem, mentor engineers, raise the technical bar through reviews, and collaborate with leadership on long‑term

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Hands-on Kubernetes expertise, including building, upgrading and operating production clusters and their control planes.
• Experience with managed Kubernetes in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Strong networking fundamentals including load balancing, routing, DNS, VPN and interconnects.
• Programming experience for infrastructure automation and backend services.
• Infrastructure as code and GitOps tooling such as Terraform and ArgoCD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture of our Kubernetes platform across GCP, AWS and on-premises environments.
• Design and build Kubernetes on bare metal and virtualized infrastructure, including provisioning, OS, networking, storage and lifecycle management.
• Own connectivity between environments: tunnels, interconnects, traffic management and service discovery.
• Prepare the platform for AI workloads, including batch jobs and model serving on CPU and GPU.
• Own and operate platform services with engineering teams, including on-call and debugging end-to-end.
• Improve observability, resiliency and automation across the platform.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews and best practices.
• Advise leadership on platform direction and long-term investment.
