Job summary

Unity Technologies is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to lead the architecture and operations of a large-scale Kubernetes platform spanning GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments. You will design, provision, and manage clusters, networking, storage, and lifecycle management while enabling AI workloads and model serving across CPU and GPU resources.

You will own connectivity across environments, improve observability and automation, and mentor engineers to raise the technical bar.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on Kubernetes expertise across production clusters and control planes.
• Experience with managed Kubernetes in GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Strong networking fundamentals and multi-cloud deployments.
• Experience with Terraform and ArgoCD for GitOps.
• Knowledge of on-premises Kubernetes and data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture of Unity's Kubernetes platform across GCP, AWS and on-premises environments.
• Design and build Kubernetes on bare metal and virtualized infrastructure.
• Own connectivity between environments: tunnels, interconnects, traffic management and service discovery.
• Prepare the platform for AI workloads, including batch jobs and model serving on CPU and GPU.
• Own and operate platform services with the engineering teams, including on-call and debugging complex issues end to end.
• Improve observability, resiliency and automation across the platform.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews and best practices.
• Advise leadership on platform direction and long-term investment.
