Are you passionate about creating outstanding Developer Experiences? Do you have experience with technologies such as NixOS, Linux, and Python? And would you like to use your skills to make a real difference for millions of people with hearing loss around the world?
Then you may have found your next opportunity at Demant.
You will join the CESW Tools team, a group of 24 colleagues with highly specialized skills. Together, we develop and maintain the tools and solutions that enable our engineers to create some of the world’s leading hearing care products. You will become part of our Flow team, currently consisting of nine colleagues. We are an informal and humorous team with ambitions and a shared passion for making software development better.
“The Flow team shapes the future of developer experience within Device Software. We want to provide the best possible development environment for our users, who are primarily software engineers working with embedded software development for hearing instruments under Linux. In short, this means providing great tooling, top‑notch automation, and removing any kind of friction from the development process.”
— Per Sandholm, your new manager
The Flow team is part of CESW Tools and the Device Software department in R&D. What makes Demant a particularly interesting place to work is that we have the entire product journey under one roof. We develop our own chipsets, firmware, and hardware, have our own production facilities, and even our own sales organization. If you have a question, the answer is often just a few steps away.
Our developers work towards an ambitious goal: creating advanced, low‑power, audio-enabled devices that meet the high standards of medical devices. As a result, you will work closely with engineers developing embedded software, often in resource‑constrained environments.
Your primary responsibility will be to improve the developer experience across the software development lifecycle. Initially, your focus will include:
You probably have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, combined with practical experience profiling and optimizing software development workflows.
More importantly, you are curious about technology and motivated by making life easier for other developers. You take a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach to challenges, enjoy collaborating with others, and are comfortable working in a SAFe environment.
You don't need to be an expert in everything below. We value your ability to learn just as much as your existing technical skills. Experience with some of the following would be a strong advantage:
We encourage candidates with at least a couple of years of experience to apply. We will match the tasks to your level of experience and make sure there is always an opportunity to develop, explore new technologies, and take on new areas.
— Per Sandholm, Manager, Flow Team
