Join Connectivity and Embedded Software (CESW)

You will join the CESW Tools team, a group of 24 colleagues with highly specialized skills. Together, we develop and maintain the tools and solutions that enable our engineers to create some of the world’s leading hearing care products. You will become part of our Flow team, currently consisting of nine colleagues. We are an informal and humorous team with ambitions and a shared passion for making software development better.

The Flow team is part of CESW Tools and the Device Software department in R&D. What makes Demant a particularly interesting place to work is that we have the entire product journey under one roof. Help us create a better developer experience

Our developers work towards an ambitious goal: creating advanced, low‑power, audio-enabled devices that meet the high standards of medical devices. As a result, you will work closely with engineers developing embedded software, often in resource‑constrained environments.

Your primary responsibility will be to improve the developer experience across the software development lifecycle. Initially, your focus will include:

• Optimizing build flows and reducing build times and friction
• Improving development environments, including editors, debuggers, AI-assisted development, command-line tools, packaging, infrastructure as code, and reproducible environments
• Enhancing build, test, documentation, and debugging tooling
• Identifying bottlenecks in development workflows and finding pragmatic, sustainable solutions
• Helping establish and continuously improve a strong software development culture

About you

You probably have a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, combined with practical experience profiling and optimizing software development workflows.

More importantly, you are curious about technology and motivated by making life easier for other developers. You take a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach to challenges, enjoy collaborating with others, and are comfortable working in a SAFe environment.

You don't need to be an expert in everything below. We value your ability to learn just as much as your existing technical skills. Experience with some of the following would be a strong advantage:

• Nix and NixOS
• Linux and its subsystems
• Python
• Build systems such as Make, SCons, and GCC toolchains
• Git and Gerrit, including submodules and plumbing commands
• Docker
• Unix/POSIX programming and scripting
• ARM microprocessor architectures
• C and/or Java, particularly Java in a test environment
