Job summary

Systematic is hiring a Software Engineer for the Agentic AI team in SitaWare Insight. The role focuses on designing and implementing AI agents and multi-agent workflows to support critical decision-making in military contexts.

The candidate will combine software engineering with LLM expertise to enhance the AI Assistant with new actionable flows. The team values experience across Java and Python, with on-prem or cloud deployment depending on customer needs.

Are you passionate about building AI agents that solve real‑world problems? Join our Agentic AI team within SitaWare Insight, where you'll design multi‑agent workflows that help military decision‑makers act faster and safer.

Job description

You will combine software engineering with LLM expertise to design and implement AI agents and multi‑agent workflows for SitaWare Insight. You will enhance our existing AI Assistant with new actionable flows and shape how agentic AI supports critical decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and documenting AI agents, tool definitions, and RAG pipelines that connect agents to internal structured and unstructured data
• Building multi‑agent sets using orchestration patterns such as routing, delegation, and result aggregation
• Writing production‑grade code with full test coverage, structured logging, and robust error handling
• Collaborating with domain experts to translate customer journeys into agent task decompositions and evaluation rubrics

Context

SitaWare is central to critical decision processes, so we always keep a human in the loop and build traceability into every AI solution. We work in both Java and Python, using the framework that best fits the task, and run models on‑premises or with cloud providers depending on customer needs.

Team

The program consists of close to 45 Systems Engineers, Architects and Testers split into 5 SCRUM teams and is growing to meet demand. The new team will include an Architect, 5‑9 developers, and 1‑2 testers. We are looking for 3‑6 software engineers at different seniority levels to join our Agentic AI team.

Your qualifications

You should have a solid foundation in software engineering and a genuine interest in AI/agentic systems. Depending on your level of experience, we expect some combination of:

• Backend development experience in Java or similar
• Frontend development experience in Angular or similar
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of microservices and message queues
• Solid software engineering practices: testing, logging, observability, and version control

For senior profiles, we additionally expect:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on LLM or AI systems, building and deploying AI‑powered applications in Java and Python
• Hands‑on experience with an orchestration framework, and a strong understanding of RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding models, hybrid search, and function‑calling patterns
• Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks and metrics such as relevance, faithfulness, and hallucination detection

Job specifics

Travel days: 2‑4 weeks per year.
