Job summary

3Shape A/S in Copenhagen is seeking a software engineer for the Innovation Projects team to explore new product ideas at the earliest stage. You will prototype quickly, develop backend and frontend components, and document learnings to ensure knowledge survives PoCs and decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field (software engineering, CS, ML/AI) is preferred.
• Experience with Python and C# for software development.
• Familiarity with GenAI concepts, prompt/context engineering, and retrieval techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to handle a demanding workload.
• Excellent written and spoken English; good presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Rapid prototyping to explore new product ideas and PoCs quickly.
• Design and build complex software solutions for humans and agents (backend, frontend, testing).
• Document learnings and decisions to preserve knowledge beyond a PoC.
• Stay up-to-date with AI standards and new technologies; self-educate regularly.
• Deliver frequent demos/pitches to stakeholders and users.
• Occasional participation in user research to understand the dental domain.

The Opportunity

Join 3Shape’s department for innovation projects as our new software engineer and work at the earliest stage of our new product exploration. The team is multi-disciplinary, the hierarchy is flat, and everyone’s know-how is needed to build 3Shape’s future cutting-edge products.

In the Innovation Projects team, we combine user pain points and available technology to provide our customers with novel solutions that they love and use. You will help us explore novel ideas by building proof of concepts (PoC) to pick the ones that show true potential. Currently we are looking into AI Agents and how they can be used reliably.
Building products with an innovative edge benefit from an attractive toolbox, hence we provide access to a palette of AI coding assistants and other software you think might increase productivity

Key responsibilities

• Rapid prototyping while knowing when to build something throw away fast versus when to invest in robustness.


• Designing and building complex software solutions for humans and agents that include backend and simple frontend as well as testing and reviewing code (not just by an AI assistant)


• Documenting learnings, decisions, and architecture so knowledge survives past a single PoC.


• Self-education to stay up to date with the newest standards, while assessing and scouting new technologies to stay abreast of where the industry is moving.


• Frequent demos/pitches to key decision makers and users.


• Occasional participation in user research enhances your understanding of the dental industry.

• You likely hold a master’s degree in a relevant field like software engineering, computer science, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or similar.


• You have experience with programming languages like Python and C#.


• You are a team player, think big, share your ideas and can also work autonomously.


• You have experience with GenAI and have been in contact with prompt and context engineering, retrieval strategies, chunking, embeddings, vector search or RAG optimization.


• Having knowledge of machine learning or computer vision is a plus.


• You have strong analytical skills combined with the ability to manage a demanding workload and enjoy learning new things.


• You possess strong communication and presentation skills in oral and written English.
