Job summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Software Asset Management (Lead/Senior) to build and own SAM as an enterprise-wide capability. You will connect entitlement, usage, contract and financial data to enable sharper investment decisions and evidence-based negotiations.

You will lead governance, data quality, and vendor negotiations across on-premises, SaaS, cloud and AI models, while driving automation and FinOps alignment to optimise licence utilisation and reduce risk.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building or maturing SAM/ITAM governance and operating models.
• Deep knowledge of software licensing, entitlement reconciliation, audit readiness and compliance risk.
• Solid understanding of SaaS, cloud marketplace, BYOL, AI and consumption-based models.
• Experience with software sourcing, contract interpretation, vendor management and FinOps.
• Hands-on experience with SAM/ITAM platforms such as Flexera One or similar, and ServiceNow, CMDB tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the SAM vision, mandate, governance, policies, controls and multi-year roadmap, with clear decision rights across technology, Procurement, Finance, Security and business owners.
• Build recurring processes for licence positions, compliance, audit readiness, optimisation and renewal preparation, so that risks are found and fixed early.
• Turn usage, entitlement, consumption and contract data into rightsizing, reclamation, consolidation and application-rationalisation actions that improve licence utilisation and reduce redundant or unmanaged software.
• Run a transparent value pipeline covering realised savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction and budget release, and strengthen sourcing strategies and vendor negotiations with evidence that holds up.
• Own the business requirements and governance for SAM data, tooling, integrations, data quality and reporting, and connect SAM with FinOps, ITAM, Enterprise Architecture and lifecycle management across on-premises, SaaS, cloud and AI models.
• Apply automation and governed AI to improve efficiency and forecasting, and lead cross-functional initiatives and external specialists while building the internal knowledge Novo needs to depend less on individuals and outside providers.

As Software Asset Management (Lead/Senior), you will build Software Asset Management into an enterprise-wide capability that Novo governs and owns internally. You will connect entitle-ment, usage, contract and financial data so teams can make sharper investment decisions, ne-gotiate from evidence and simplify the technology landscape. Your work will turn software com-plexity into savings validated by Finance, lower risk and budget released for new priorities, giv-ing colleagues across Novo more room to focus on the work that matters.

What You’ll Bring

• A relevant higher education or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in building or maturing Software Asset Management or IT Asset Manage-ment governance and operating models in a complex organisation.
• Deep knowledge of complex software licensing, product-use rights, entitlement reconcilia-tion, effective licence positions, audit readiness and compliance risk.
• A solid understanding of SaaS, cloud marketplace, BYOL, AI and consumption-based com-mercial models.
• Experience with software sourcing, contract interpretation, vendor management and negoti-ations, supported by FinOps, cost transparency, forecasting and benefits tracking.

Hands-on experience with SAM and ITAM platforms such as Flexera One or similar, and an understanding of ServiceNow, CMDB, identity, discovery and endpoint-management tools.

• Strong data, analytics and reporting skills, with the ability to combine financial, contractual, technical and risk information into clear recommendations.
• The ability to influence without formal authority, guide people through new ways of working, and explain technical and contractual complexity in clear business terms to any audience.
• A pragmatic, accountable approach that keeps progress moving when information is incomplete.

Useful, But Not Essential

• SAM, ITAM, FinOps, ITIL or vendor-specific certifications.
• Experience with application rationalisation and technology lifecycle management.
• Experience applying automation or governed AI to contract analysis, forecasting or decision support.

Who You’ll Work With

You will join Enterprise IT & Quality, where colleagues work across the Novo value chain, stay close to stakeholders and help deliver trusted technology and responsible ways of working. You will report to Anders Gooseman Hove. Your closest partners will be Enterprise IT leadership, Procurement and Strategic Sourcing, and Finance and FinOps. You will also work with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Legal, ServiceNow and CMDB teams, cloud and platform teams, and application and product owners. Outside Novo, you will work with software vendors and specialist external advisers. Each partner owns part of the software picture. You will bring them together around shared data and clear decisions and speak up when things stall.

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 742,600 to 1,091,600 DKK corresponding to the level of the position.

The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
