Job summary

Novonesis is seeking a Senior Scientist in Baking Applied R&D to lead strategic baking projects and guide scientific direction. You will expand the cultures platform, connect fermentation knowledge with flour and dough processing, and collaborate across regional centers, business development, and customers.

The role requires deep scientific expertise, leadership capabilities, and a track record of translating complex data into actionable decisions while driving innovation in bakery applications.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in cereal science, food science, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology or another relevant scientific field.
• Proven baking-science expertise and R&D experience in biosolutions for bakery products.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and guide technical decisions.
• Strong communication to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Acting as technical lead on strategic baking projects in partnership with the commercial lead.
• Defining the technical direction, hypotheses, success criteria and priorities across workstreams.
• Building and advancing the cultures platform in baking and fermentation.
• Translating business opportunities into focused scientific questions and development plans.
• Communicating progress and risks to scientists, business and leadership.
• Mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge.
