Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering, acoustics, or related technical discipline (PhD welcome).
• Experience with test development, verification, validation or performance evaluation of complex electronic or embedded systems.
• Comfort with electronics, prototypes, measurement equipment and lab test setups.
• Familiarity with electroacoustic measurements and spatial audio testing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve verification and validation methods, tools and test setups for hearing-aid technologies.
• Build, modify and troubleshoot prototype-based test solutions, including electronics work and soldering.
• Design and conduct electroacoustic, acoustic and objective performance measurements of hearing-aid prototypes and processing platforms.
• Develop advanced three-dimensional and spatial-audio measurement methods for real-life sound environments.
• Use simulations, physical test environments and real-world scenarios to connect lab results with everyday listening.
• Plan, support and analyse participant studies on speech understanding, sound quality and listening effort.
• Apply data-driven and AI-based methods to automate testing and provide clear technical recommendations.

Are you motivated by turning advanced hearing-aid concepts into robust, testable technologies? We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer to develop and improve verification and validation methods, tools and test setups for future hearing aids.

In the role of Senior Research Engineer, you will contribute to our purpose of Bringing People Closer. You will combine practical engineering with advanced measurement science to help ensure that laboratory results reflect real-life listening experiences for people with hearing loss.

You will join a research and development environment working to advance future hearing-aid technologies. The team brings together expertise across audiology, acoustics, hardware, algorithms and measurement science to solve real-life communication challenges.

Your contribution is appreciated, and you will:

• Develop, maintain and improve verification and validation methods, tools and test setups for hearing-aid technologies
• Build, modify and troubleshoot prototype-based test solutions, including electronics work, hearing-aid assembly, soldering and test-fixture development
• Design and conduct electroacoustic, acoustic and objective performance measurements of hearing-aid prototypes, algorithms and processing platforms
• Develop advanced three-dimensional and spatial-audio measurement methods to assess hearing-aid performance in realistic sound environments
• Use simulations, physical test environments and real-world scenarios to connect laboratory results with everyday listening performance
• Plan, support and analyse participant studies, including evaluations of speech understanding, sound quality, listening effort and spatial hearing
• Apply data-driven and AI-based methods to automate testing, analyse results and provide clear technical recommendations to research and development colleagues

To perform well in the role, we imagine that you:

• Hold a degree in electrical engineering, acoustics, audio engineering, physics, measurement science, mechatronics or a related technical discipline; a PhD is welcome but not required
• Bring practical experience with test development, verification, validation or performance evaluation of complex electronic, acoustic or embedded systems
• Are comfortable working directly with electronics, prototypes, measurement equipment and laboratory test setups, including assembly, soldering and troubleshooting
• Understand electroacoustic and acoustic measurements and are interested in advanced spatial audio, three-dimensional sound or simulated sound-environment testing
• Can analyse complex data, communicate technical results and uncertainty clearly, and work well with colleagues across research, audiology, hardware and algorithm development; experience with hearing-aid technology, test automation, simulations, participant studies, AI-enabled data analysis or audio signal processing is beneficial
