Job summary

SYBO, the Copenhagen‑based studio behind Subway Surfers, is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to power live ops and platform services for millions of players. You’ll work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, and internal tooling to build scalable, reliable systems that support current and future projects.

You’ll collaborate with game designers, product managers, analytics, and production to deliver high‑impact platform solutions, while modernizing and expanding our cloud‑native stack.

Qualifications

• Solid experience building, operating, and scaling production backend services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, data modelling, and trade‑offs for reliable, scalable platform services.
• Extensive experience with cloud‑native infrastructure, containers, orchestration, and infrastructure‑as‑code (Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, GCP).
• Strong operational mindset with monitoring, observability, incident response, and production support.
• Strong backend engineering experience; Go preferred, but other languages (C#, Python, Rust, Node.js) are welcome.
• Ability to design, document, communicate, and execute technical solutions with engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Technical Director to evolve architecture and direction of the platform ecosystem.
• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services powering Live Ops, social features, game functionality, and tooling.
• Modernize legacy systems, delivering robust, extensible solutions for future games.
• Deliver end‑to‑end solutions across APIs, data models, background services, cloud infra, and tooling.
• Own and improve cloud infrastructure, deployment environments, and platform reliability with cloud‑native practices.
• Strengthen observability through monitoring, logging, tracing, alerts, and operational excellence.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to ensure a reliable player experience worldwide.
• Collaborate with game designers, product managers, analytics, and production to deliver value.
