Job summary

Clinical Ink is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Disease Management team in Denmark and the United States. The role is the most senior individual contributor, setting technical direction, owning architecture across repos and services, and ensuring production reliability and security.

You will craft contract stories from intended use to tests and guide cross-cutting decisions. You will lead the design of backend systems, data contracts, and integrations, while remaining hands-on to ground

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience with modern stacks and owning architecture.
• Ability to design distributed/service systems, API design and data modeling.
• Production reliability experience with observability and IaC.
• Drive to build, ship, and mentor teams; strong technical writing.
• Familiarity with AI coding agents and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend and platform architecture: service boundaries, modular design, data flow, tenant isolation, and public API surface.
• Author architecture records and design docs traceable to verification.
• Own infrastructure and production-reliability backbone: IaC, AWS services, CI/CD, security posture.
• Set observability bar: SLOs/SLIs, traces, logs, alerting for on-call readiness.
• Drive build-vs-buy decisions and ensure safety and compliance in architecture.
• Design and implement core backend components and reviews across teams.
