How you will make an impact

As Senior Packaging Engineer, you will drive optimisation and implementation of profitable, sustainable and functional packaging solutions across multiple dairies. You will work cross‑functionally with Packaging Procurement, Sustainable Packaging Innovation, Product Management and site teams at our dairies in Denmark and Sweden, coordinating closely with suppliers to ensure robust, compliant and scalable outcomes.

• Plan, execute and document packaging line trials, ensuring smooth implementation to standards.
• Manage customer and retailer requirements across the packaging optimisation lifecycle.
• Secure and maintain packaging documentation in the database, following our ways of working.
• Coordinate activities across countries and suppliers for designated packaging types.
• Identify and drive continuous improvements in processes, practices and best‑practice support.

This role sits in Global Packaging Optimisation and is a permanent position based at Arla Foods HQ in Aarhus. You will also spend time at our Esbjerg dairy, travel to dairies in Sweden and visit suppliers and other Arla sites in the EU and UK.

What will make you successful

You bring a solid combination of practical packaging experience and technical understanding, ideally within food. You know how to plan, execute and document trials in production environments and balance agility with the right level of compliance and documentation. You communicate clearly about complex topics and thrive in a large, matrixed organisation with defined ways of working.

• 1–3 years’ experience in packaging optimisation within food, or similar hands‑on packaging background.
• Technical/engineering/science or quality background; chemistry/biochemistry is an advantage.
• Strong stakeholder and project management skills; clear written and verbal communication in English.
• Comfortable leading multiple tasks and priorities; structured, detail‑oriented and compliance‑minded.
• Practical knowledge of packaging materials and food packaging requirements; Excel proficiency.
• Experience from contract manufacturing and food production environments is a plus.
• Willingness to travel approx. 30–40 days internationally.
