Job summary

Semco Maritime is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Automation & Electrical team in Esbjerg. You will own automation solutions across the project lifecycle for energy facilities, marine installations and offshore platforms, designing PLC software and integrating drive systems while mentoring colleagues.

Based in Denmark, the role involves onshore/offshore commissioning, travel and close collaboration with customers and project teams.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of PLC programming in Siemens TIA Portal (SCL preferred).
• Experience developing automation for energy, marine or offshore.
• Strong understanding of automation architecture and industrial networks (Profinet, Modbus TCP, CAN/J1939).
• Knowledge of energy systems (ESS and shore power).
• Experience with VFDs and motor control; Danfoss VLT or VACON advantageous.
• Translate requirements into well-documented software and guide colleagues.
• Willingness to participate in commissioning onshore and offshore.
• Fluent in English; Danish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of automation solutions and define system architecture.
• Design and develop PLC software and structured code for marine, offshore, and energy systems.
• Develop automation for BMS, PMS, ESS, shore power and generator control.
• Integrate, configure and commission variable-frequency drives and motor control systems.
• Perform FAT, SAT and commissioning onshore and offshore.
• Review and quality‑assure automation designs and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to internal standards and best practices.
• Maintain close dialogue with project management, customers and suppliers.
