Job summary

Semco Maritime in Esbjerg, Denmark, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to own automation solutions across projects for energy facilities, marine installations and offshore platforms. You’ll design and implement PLC software, develop complex control architectures and ensure safe, reliable operation.

You’ll work with Danfoss drives, BMS/PMS, ESS and shore power, collaborate with project teams, mentors others, and travel offshore/onshore as needed. Fluent English is required; Danish is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least five years of PLC programming experience in Siemens TIA Portal, preferably with SCL.
• Experience developing automation solutions for energy, marine or offshore applications.
• Strong understanding of automation architecture and industrial networks (Profinet, Modbus TCP, CAN/J1939).
• Knowledge of energy systems, power management or hybrid solutions such as ESS and shore power.
• Experience with variable-frequency drives and commissioning; familiarity with Danfoss VLT or VACON is a plus.
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable, well-documented software.
• Willingness to perform commissioning and service onshore and offshore.
• Fluency in English; Danish language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of automation solutions and define system architecture, interfaces and software structures.
• Design and develop PLC software, functional descriptions and structured code for marine, offshore and energy systems.
• Develop automation for BMS, PMS and hybrid energy systems, including ESS, shore power and generator control.
• Integrate, configure and commission variable-frequency drives and motor/pump-control systems.
• Perform FAT, SAT and commissioning activities onshore and offshore.
• Review designs and documentation; mentor less experienced engineers.
• Maintain technical dialogue with project management, customers, suppliers and other engineers.
