Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Senior Naval Architect based at our Copenhagen headquarters to support our global fleet lifecycle from concept to recycling. You will work within Fleet Technology, collaborating with project managers and engineers across disciplines on world‑class vessel design and decarbonisation initiatives.

Key focus areas include leading engineering reviews, ensuring compliance, and delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable vessel solutions in a global, cross‑functional team.

Qualifications

• A degree in Naval Architecture and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ship design, maritime research, or a closely related field.
• Exposure to vessel design, including statutory compliance, structural design, or stability.
• A solid technical foundation, with experience contributing to engineering projects from concept through execution.
• Experience with ship new-building or major conversion projects either from ship owner, designer or classification society angle, including activities such as developments of technical specifications or plan approval.
• A collaborative, proactive mindset and interest in working within a global, cross-functional organisation.
• The ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.

• Promote a proactive culture with flat team structures and shared ownership.

About the Role

You’ll join Fleet Technology, working alongside highly skilled project managers and engineers across multiple disciplines in a truly global environment. In this role you get the opportunity to contribute across the full vessel lifecycle — from concept design and major conversions to innovation initiatives and vessel recycling.

What We’re Looking For

We expect our next team member to bring:

• A degree in Naval Architecture and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ship design, maritime research, or a closely related field

It’s an advantage if you also have:

• Knowledge of container vessel’s lashing systems, outfitting, hull structure and/or accommodation design.
• Practical experience in supporting, mentoring, or coordinating the work of other engineers
