The Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a Senior Process Engineer (NanoFab/MBE) starting 1 February 2027 or as negotiated. The role focuses on wafer-scale epitaxy, nanofabrication, and device analysis within the NQCP program at Copenhagen.

You will collaborate with Design, Growth, Fabrication Development, and Quantum Platform teams to advance oxide materials and qubit devices, with flexible hours and a focus on innovation.

Qualifications

  • Masters/Ph.D. in material science, electronics, physics or related.
  • 3+ years’ experience in microelectronics, photonics or MEMS.
  • Experience in nanofabrication techniques including lithography, etching methods, thin film deposition, thinning, and bonding.
  • Experience in structural device characterization (eg. XRD, AFM).
  • Proficient in data tracking and analysis methods (e.g., six sigma concepts).
  • Ability to assume a technical lead role while driving an innovative culture and growth mindset.
  • Optional: experience in MBE growth of oxides, and Photonic Integrated Circuit design and processes

Responsibilities

  • Develop wafer‑scale epitaxy and/or fabrication processes in close collaboration with Design, Growth, Fabrication Development, Characterization and Quantum Platform Integration teams.
  • Build capabilities to analyse and test new devices
  • Implement and document in‑process work streams, protocol instructions, tests & specifications.
  • Analyse correlations between processes (process parameters/conditions, metrology data).
  • Track variation and process capability, identify and support continuous improvement initiatives towards tool and process improvement.
  • Analyse requirements against existing capabilities and estimate risks and yields for new processes.
  • Specify tasks and lead activities with external suppliers and partners
