Job summary

Lunar Denmark is seeking a Senior Finance Controller to mature controllership, accelerate closes, and automate processes from Copenhagen.

You will run multi‑entity closes, support consolidation, and partner with Product and Tech to ensure accurate GL booking. This is a senior, individual contributor role requiring banking accounting expertise and IFRS knowledge.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in financial controlling or audit in banking or regulated finance.
• Strong knowledge of core banking accounting and how product ledgers reconcile to the general ledger.
• Hands‑on IFRS knowledge and experience with annual reports and audits.
• Experience with multi‑entity, multi‑currency consolidation in an international group.
• Ability to work with data and query ledger data; familiarity with automation and AI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run the month, quarter and year end close for your entities and contribute to group consolidation, intercompany and eliminations.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations from core banking and subledgers to the general ledger and resolve breaks.
• Prepare key parts of the annual and half‑year reports for the group and the bank, support the external audit, and write IFRS memos.
• Guide Product and Tech on how core banking flows should be designed and booked so new products reach the GL correctly from day one.
• Drive selected improvement projects and coach junior controllers.

We're putting AI at the core of how we build and run the bank, but knowing exactly who we're doing business with still comes down to people, and that's what this team does.

As our new Senior Finance Controller, you’ll join the Controlling & Transformation team in Copenhagen. Our goal is to mature Lunar’s controllership and make every close faster, cleaner and more automated.

To be upfront: parts of our close are still manual, and our controllership is still maturing. You’ll be a hands‑on senior controller in a team that’s actively improving how we work. You’ll run your part of the close and drive selected projects that move us forward. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who knows banking accounting well and would rather fix a process than repeat it.

What will you do?

• Run the month, quarter and year end close for your entities, and contribute to group consolidation, intercompany and eliminations

• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations from core banking and subledgers to the general ledger, and follow every break through to resolution

• Prepare key parts of the annual and half-year reports for the group and the bank, from trial balance to notes, support the external audit, and write technical accounting memos under IFRS and the Danish FSA executive order on areas like IFRS 9 impairment, effective interest, fee income and capitalised development

• Guide Product and Tech on how core banking flows should be designed and booked, so new products and changes reach the general ledger correctly from day one

• Drive selected improvement projects, from getting more out of Business Central (allocations, workflows and approvals) to automating close steps with our technical resources, and coach junior controllers along the way

What are we looking for in you?

• Significant experience in financial controlling or audit, with a large part of it in a bank or regulated financial institution. You work independently, set your own priorities and follow issues through to resolution

• Solid knowledge of core banking accounting: deposits, lending, cards and payments, settlement and clearing accounts, and how product ledgers reconcile to the general ledger

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Danish accounting rules for financial institutions, including hands‑on experience preparing an annual report and working through positions with auditors

• Hands‑on experience with multi‑entity, multi‑currency consolidation and controlling in an international group

• You’re comfortable working with data. You can write SQL and find your way around a data warehouse to query ledger and transaction data yourself, and you see new tools, automation and AI as part of the job

It’s a bonus if you bring experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, a Big 4 financial services audit background or a state authorised public accountant qualification, experience from a fintech or scale‑up, or professional working proficiency in Danish.
