Job summary

DTU's BRIGHT Biofoundry seeks a Senior Downstream Engineer and Project Lead to drive projects from the lab to pilot scale. You’ll lead downstream development, work with fermentation teams and industrial partners, and ensure robust data interpretation and documentation.

You will join an international team focused on sustainable biosolutions, with emphasis on safety, quality, and hands-on execution in a dynamic lab and pilot plant setting.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in engineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
• Solid experience in downstream process development and scale-up.
• Knowledge of downstream unit operations (filtration, chromatography, liquid-liquid extraction, crystallization).
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical projects.
• Collaborative, hands-on and flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Lead bioprocess projects through agreed milestones and deliverables.
• Develop and scale up downstream recovery and purification processes.
• Plan and perform hands-on experiments in the laboratory and pilot plant with colleagues.
• Coordinate activities with fermentation colleagues and project partners.
• Interpret, communicate, and document results and recommendations.
