Job summary

Danfoss is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to deepen modelling and optimization for district energy utilities. You will apply physics-based modelling, data-driven methods and MILP to optimize heat production and storage at grid scale, collaborating with a European team.

This role emphasizes system-level optimization across production, network and demand, with a focus on translating complex models into practical, customer-ready solutions. Based in Copenhagen or Kolding, Denmark.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field (math, ML, statistics, physics, engineering).
• Several years of experience applying data modelling to complex physical or industrial systems.
• Excellent command of Python as main programming tool.

Responsibilities

• Develop and extend thermo-hydraulic simulation tools for district energy networks using physical modelling, ML and data-driven methods.
• Calibrate and validate models against live network measurements and real data.
• Advance production optimization using MILP and related techniques to plan heat production and storage across grid utilities.
• Connect layers into system-level optimization for production, network and demand.
• Build data pipelines and collaborate with data engineering teams.
• Own problems and communicate solutions to customers and non-technical partners.
