Job summary

Danfoss Digital Solutions, Utility, is seeking a Data Scientist to strengthen the forecasting capability for district energy utilities. You will take models from idea to production, running daily on live networks, under guidance from senior data scientists.

You will work with energy demand forecasting, weather/condition modelling, and robust, scalable forecasting solutions, collaborating with a cross‑European team to advance production optimization and thermo-hydraulic simulations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (math, ML, stats, physics)
• PhD is a benefit but not required
• Experience with Python as main tool and solid foundation in stats/ML
• Experience with forecasting/time-series modelling.
• Forecasting experience in energy systems or electricity markets is a plus
• Experience with modern data pipelines and cloud-based platforms
• Knowledge of C# and C++ is appreciated
• Fluent in English
• Willing to apply and learn advanced methodology in district energy
• Interest in blending physical models with data
• Proactive coding and quick results in forecasting large networks

Responsibilities

• Develop and productionize energy demand forecasting models for heat/cooling across networks
• Improve local weather/condition forecasting to outperform global models
• Ensure robustness of forecasts at scale with self-adaptive models and anomaly detection
• Blend physical modelling with data and machine learning
• Build and maintain data pipelines with the data engineering team
