Job summary

Danfoss in Denmark is seeking a Data Scientist to strengthen forecasting for district energy utilities. You will bring physics-based modeling together with machine learning to deliver daily forecasts on live networks.

You will work closely with experienced data scientists, advance production-ready forecasting, and contribute to decarbonisation by optimizing energy demand predictions across multiple networks.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• PhD degree is a benefit but not a strict requirement.
• Experience with Python as main programming tool, with a solid foundation in statistics and machine learning.
• Experience with forecasting and time-series modelling for production
• Forecasting experience in energy systems or electricity markets is a plus
• Experience with modern data pipelines and cloud-based data platforms
• Knowledge with C# and C++ is appreciated
• Fluent in English
• Willing to apply and learn advanced methodology in district energy
• Interested in blending physical models with data
• Enjoy seeing code in action and forecasting large networks

Responsibilities

• Build and improve energy demand forecasting models across utility networks with automated retraining.
• Work on local weather and condition forecasting to outperform global models at network level.
• Make forecasting robust at scale with self-adaptive models, drift and anomaly detection, and monitoring.
• Blend physics with data by combining physical modelling with ML methods.
• Build and develop data pipelines your models depend on with the data platform team
