Job summary

Bavarian Nordic is seeking a Senior Bioprocess Engineer to optimize and de-risk Rabies and TBE vaccine processes at our Denmark site. You will lead cross-functional improvements using data-driven methods to boost yield, cycle time, capacity, and robustness across manufacturing steps.

You will translate insights into practical changes, design studies and support tech transfer, scale-up and validation. A collaborative MSAT team will enable rapid, robust process improvements within GMP frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biochemical, chemical, bioprocess, pharmaceutical engineering or related field.
• Experience in process optimisation, manufacturing science, process engineering or continuous improvement within GMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including manufacturing-data analysis and statistics.
• Proven ability to improve yield, cycle time, capacity or cost efficiency.
• Solid understanding of bioprocess unit operations and engineering principles.
• Working knowledge of GMP, validation, change control, investigations, risk management and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Analyse process performance using continued process verification data, statistics and data visualisation.
• Lead improvements in yield, cycle time, throughput, capacity and process robustness.
• Apply structured problem solving and Lean methods to identify root causes and resolve process challenges.
• Build process understanding through manufacturing data, scientific knowledge and shop-floor insights.
• Design engineering studies, trials and scale-down models to evaluate process improvements.
• Translate findings into recommendations, business cases and implementation plans with measurable outcomes.
• Implement and sustain improvements through risk assessment, change control, validation and updated control strategies.
• Provide technical expertise for complex deviations, investigations and CAPAs.
• Support technology transfer, scale-up, process introduction and requirements for equipment, automation and digital solutions.
