Public.com is seeking Senior Backend Engineers to join their dynamic trading team in Copenhagen. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of Public’s revolutionary trading platform.

Public is an investing platform that makes building a multi‑asset portfolio fast, frictionless, and secure. Members can trade stocks, options, bonds, crypto, ETFs, and alternative assets — all in one place. Alongside its robust suite of investing tools, Public offers Alpha, a layer of artificial intelligence that provides fundamental data and custom analysis to support informed investment decisions.

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Public, you will become part of a development team located in Carlsbergbyen Copenhagen. In collaboration with the rest of the Copenhagen office, you will develop Public’s cutting‑edge trading platform, enabling users to buy and trade stocks and options seamlessly. Public is looking for a candidate with an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial spirit; someone who is willing to learn quickly, take responsibility, and drive initiatives forward. PRIMARY TASKS AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs using Java Spring boot.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement new features and enhancements.
• Optimize performance and scalability of our trading platform to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain code quality and reliability.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually improve our software architecture and development processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate is expected to have a BA or MA level in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant field, but experience from a similar role is more important.

Furthermore, Public envisions the candidate to have experience with the following:

• Strong proficiency in Java Spring boot and hands‑on experience with backend development.
• Experience with Java or .NET is also relevant and can be considered.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and problem‑solving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced agile environment.
• Experience with the financial markets or trading platforms is a plus, but not required.
• Fluent in English.
