Alfa Laval Mid Europe GmbH is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer in Søborg, Denmark. You will design, program and develop automation systems for industrial processes, often in complex environments, and help standardize software structures across projects.
You will collaborate with DevOps and IoT/cloud experts to bridge traditional automation with modern software engineering, mentor colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement. Fluent English is expected in a diverse, international team.

Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world‑leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including food, pharma, water and energy. As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140‑year‑old start‑up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too. We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer who’s as comfortable coding as they are configuring PLCs. You’ll help build the backbone of our products, not just field automation. This is a unique chance to join a team embracing modularization of our products and moving from basic control to full CI/CD and DevOps practices.
In this role as a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be an important part of our Automation Solutions team within the Smart Separator Systems department. You will work closely with colleagues across business areas and separator applications. This is a hands‑on, senior engineering role where you will design, program, and develop automation systems for industrial processes, often in complex and demanding environments. You will contribute to standardizing our software structures across applications, supporting innovation and future‑ready solutions. You will also play an active role in knowledge‑sharing and coaching less experienced colleagues, helping the whole team grow.
You are a collaborative and driven automation engineer who enjoys both the technical depth of programming and the broader view of system architecture. You are comfortable working in an open, team‑oriented environment, where ideas are valued regardless of seniority. You enjoy solving problems creatively and have the confidence to guide projects forward while staying hands‑on with the work.
Solid experience in automation engineering for industrial processes (preferably process industry or similar). Proficiency with PLC programming in both B&R and Siemens. Solid automation experience: Proven track record with Siemens and B&R. Strong coding skills: Proficiency in C (especially for B&R), and a willingness to embrace modern software tools and workflows. Experience with version control/revision management (Git). Growth mindset: Eager to learn and help implement CI/CD, even if you haven’t done it before. Collaborative spirit: Comfortable working in a diverse team, sharing knowledge, and supporting change.
Experience with Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink), industrial cybersecurity, or IoT/cloud integration. Familiarity with control systems like Siemens S7, B&R, or Allen Bradley. Awareness of Cybersecurity in industrial automation (a plus). Relevant degree in Automation, Software, Embedded or equivalent. Fluent in English, both written and spoken (team language).
We offer a challenging position in an open, friendly, and global environment where we help each other to develop and create value. Your work will directly influence the performance and reliability of systems used worldwide, with the possibility to make a big impact on our business unit’s future success.
