Job description

Looking for a role where you can put your financial modelling skills to work on live, high-value transactions? Join our Project Finance team in Copenhagen as a Senior Associate and play a key role in financing renewable energy projects across Europe. European Energy is a growing company in the renewable energy sector. We are a privately owned Danish company founded in 2004, with our headquarters in Copenhagen. We develop, construct, finance, and operate solar (PV) and wind energy projects globally, as well as Power-to-X projects. In addition, we explore new technologies, including battery storage, biogas, and carbon capture.

Our core values form the foundation of everything we do: In It Together, Trust and Courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility.

Your New Team

As a part of the CCO Area, the Project and Asset Finance team is responsible for sourcing all financing needed to construct EE's project pipeline.

In this role, you will work directly with the Global Head of Project and Asset Finance and a team of Project Finance transaction leads, as well as the more than 25 other members of the broader M&A and Project Finance department dedicated to commercialising EE's asset portfolio.

Your New Role

As a Senior Associate, Project Finance, you will be the deal team's go-to person for the financial model on the live transactions to which you are assigned, while acting as a sounding board for junior associates with respect to their own modelling responsibilities.

You will build, tailor, and maintain complex financial models, populate and maintain the transaction data room, coordinate Q&A with lenders and advisors, support in commercial negotiations and documentation review, and assist in all other aspects of the transaction, from mandate to financial close.

This is a hands‑on role offering significant responsibility, exposure to high-value transactions, and excellent opportunities for professional growth.

Your Responsibilities
  • Build, tailor, and maintain the financial model for each transaction, including running scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Provide support and mentoring to junior Associate regarding their own financial modelling responsibilities.
  • Populate and maintain the transaction data room.
  • Run the RfP process for the LIA and Model Auditor.
  • Coordinate lender and advisor to Q&A throughout the transaction process.
  • Assist the Transaction Principal in producing transaction information materials.
  • Support due diligence processes and the preparation of term sheets and financing documentation.
Prerequisites to progress in the job
  • You have 1-3 years of experience as a financial analyst, ideally within project finance, infrastructure, leveraged finance, or a related field.
  • You are highly proficient in financial modelling and can independently build, tailor, and audit a project finance model.
  • You have a solid understanding of non-recourse financing structures; exposure to both debt and equity financing is an advantage.
  • You have strong Excel and quantitative skills, with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • You have an interest in participating in, and learning about, all aspects of renewable energy project structuring, including project documents, structuring and commercial negotiation, and financing documentation.
  • You have an interest in renewable power markets and market dynamics.
  • As a person, you are proactive and have a results‑driven mindset, which you use in your problem‑solving.
  • You are collaborative with excellent communication skills, and comfortable explaining complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • You have an eye for detail, particularly in your financial modelling work, and a genuine interest in the financial market and the renewable energy sector.
  • You are willing to travel as needed (expected approximately quarterly) to meet with stakeholders across Europe.
With us you get
  • Close collaboration with senior colleagues and meaningful deal ownership from day one
  • A culture of knowledge sharing and international collaboration across 21+ countries
  • Flexible work policy and a diverse, inclusive work environment
  • Opportunities for career advancement in a growing company and sector
  • Six weeks of paid annual leave
  • A subsidised lunch scheme
  • Employee discounts on glasses, furniture, and massage
  • Free access to a gym
  • A mobile phone for both professional and personal use
  • Access to professional development opportunities, including on‑the‑job learning, internal and external training, and networking
