Job summary

JYSK in Denmark is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to drive AI across model development, deployment, and operation at scale. You will work within an AI team spanning platform, data, and AI engineering to deliver business-ready solutions.

You will combine deep technical expertise with practical, business-focused outcomes, work in cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure), and help shape the next generation of AI applications, with the possibility to lead technical directions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building and running AI solutions in production.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure). The stack runs on GCP, and you will learn what you need.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and scale AI applications and the MLOps pipelines behind them.
• Use and adapt existing large language models, including fine-tuning and post-training.
• Research and experiment with models from classical ML to state-of-the-art.
• Develop custom models where off-the-shelf solutions fall short.
• Run AI workloads in cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) using Kubernetes where fitting.
• Collaborate with architects, data, AI and platform engineers on complex projects.
• Support users with a you-build-it, you-own-it mindset.

WHAT YOUR NEXT JOB WILL BE ABOUT

You will take AI solutions all the way from experiment to production and keep them running. The work is roughly half classical machine learning and half generative AI, and you will move between the two.

In practice, you will:

• Build, deploy and scale AI applications and the MLOps pipelines behind them.
• Use and adapt existing large language models, including fine-tuning and post-training. Pre-training is not in scope.
• Research and experiment with models, from classical ML to state of the art, to improve JYSK's business processes.
• Develop custom models where off-the-shelf solutions fall short.
• Run AI workloads on Google Cloud Platform, using Cloud Run, GPU virtual machines and Kubernetes where it fits. Everything is in the cloud; nothing is on-prem.
• Work with architects on solution design and with data, AI and platform engineers on complex projects.
• Support the users of your solutions with a "you build it, you own it" mindset.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING

JYSK is looking for a new colleague who:

• Holds a master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or another science field. A PhD is an advantage, but not a requirement.
• Has 5+ years of experience designing, building and running AI solutions in production. This can be in a corporation, a startup or applied research, as long as your models have been used for real.
• Has worked with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure). The stack runs on GCP, and you will learn what you need.

The role calls for someone who combines both worlds: not a software developer who uses AI, and not a data scientist who only experiments locally, but an engineer with a scientific foundation who builds AI that works in production. The working language for code is Python.

It is a plus if you have experience with

• AI agents and RAG systems
• Fine-tuning or post-training LLMs
• Computer vision, especially in physical environments
• Other areas such as graph neural networks or reinforcement learning

No one is expected to have all of these.
