Job summary

DTU – Technical University of Denmark is seeking a Research Assistant to support the development of microbial plastic degradation technologies within the BRIGHT institute. The role focuses on microbiology, enzymology, and polymer technology, contributing to practical, scalable solutions.

You will work on bacterial cultivation, enzyme optimization, and data-driven analysis, collaborating with engineers and partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biochemistry, microbiology, engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with bacterial cultivation and sterile laboratory techniques.
• Strong data handling and analytical skills.
• Structured, hands-on, and able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute bacterial growth experiments under lab conditions.
• Prepare growth media, buffers and materials for experiments.
• Assist analysis of results with engineers and partners.
• Investigate and develop microbial systems and enzymes for plastic degradation.
• Operate and monitor laboratory-scale cultivation systems.
• Compile and interpret data to identify trends and improvements.
• Develop and refine experimental protocols for enzymatic processes.
• Document procedures and results in compliance with good laboratory practice.
