Job description

Help ensure the quality of vaccines that protect lives every day. Do you enjoy solving scientific challenges and turning laboratory data into reliable, well-documented conclusions? Join Bavarian Nordic’s QC Biochemistry team and contribute to the testing, release, and characterization of our vaccines. In this role, you will combine scientific expertise with a strong quality mindset. From troubleshooting assays and reviewing test results to validating methods and improving laboratory processes, your work will help ensure that our analyses are robust, accurate, and compliant with cGMP requirements.

Your impact. As part of our QC Biochemistry team, you will support daily laboratory activities and contribute to the scientific development of the department. You will collaborate with colleagues to resolve analytical challenges, strengthen our methods, and maintain high standards of documentation and data quality.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure reliable analytical results: Evaluate raw data and calculations, and review and approve biochemical test records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SOPs, acceptance criteria, and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot assays and drive investigations: Investigate analytical issues related to characterization and release testing, and prepare and review deviations, out-of-specification and out-of-trend investigations, CAPAs, and change requests.
  • Develop and maintain analytical methods: Contribute to the development, validation, and implementation of new techniques and assays, and perform periodic method reviews.
  • Maintain qualified equipment and systems: Contribute to equipment qualification and periodic system reviews to support reliable, compliant laboratory operations.
  • Strengthen GMP documentation: Prepare and scientifically review SOPs, protocols, development and validation reports, and comparability documentation.
  • Support collaboration and continuous improvement: Train colleagues, coordinate project-related activities, and help maintain and improve Bavarian Nordic’s quality system.
What you bring

You have a scientific academic degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline, along with laboratory experience and a strong quality mindset.

You bring
  • A structured and analytical approach to laboratory work, troubleshooting, and evaluating scientific data.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, clear, and traceable documentation.
  • The ability to coordinate tasks, share knowledge, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with biochemical assays, GMP-regulated laboratory work, method validation, or analytical investigations would be an advantage.
Who you are

You take ownership of your work and follow through on both scientific and quality-related tasks. You are curious about why an assay behaves as it does, comfortable asking questions, and motivated by finding practical solutions. You value teamwork and understand that reliable results depend on shared expertise, clear procedures, and consistent execution.

Why join Bavarian Nordic?

In QC Biochemistry, you will contribute directly to that purpose by helping ensure the quality and reliability of the data supporting our products. Our values—Persisting Pioneers, Embracing Change, and Boosted by the Team—shape how we work together to protect lives every day.
