Job summary

GEUS invites applications for a 2.5-year Postdoctoral position in peatland hydrology, focusing on groundwater dynamics and data‑driven modelling. The project is part of Horizon Europe PEAT-GENIE and aims to connect groundwater with greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, and land use.

The successful candidate will develop ML models, integrate numerical hydrology with ML, publish in international journals, and collaborate with partners across Europe.

Qualifications

• PhD required in geosciences, environmental engineering, hydrology or related field.
• Experience with groundwater hydrology and peatland processes is preferred.
• Strong data-driven modelling and ML skills.
• Excellent publication record and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models to predict groundwater dynamics in peatlands across space and time.
• Link numerical hydrological models with ML to assess climate change and restoration impacts.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and participate in international PEAT‑GENIE activities.
